What is Current?

Some people mistakenly believe that current is the flow of electrons.

I believed this for quite some time. It wasn’t until I read a few articles that I began to understand some of the basics of current and flow.

Current is the flow of charge. Electrons do flow in current as well as charge but at different speeds. The movement of charge creates the current. Because the charge contains both protons (positively charged particles) and electrons (negatively charged particles), both these particles produce an electric current.
